3.2 Create Tasks

Creating Tasks for multiple (concurrent) assignments:

 
     
 

By default, Oracle provides two types of tasks for entering time against - Billable and Non-Billable. When time is entered against the "Billable" task, revenue is accrued at the bill-rate that is set up for the assignment.

 
 
 
 

There are occasions when a resource needs to have multiple assignments on the same project with duration overlapping each other (for example, two rates for an assignment - one for regular time and one for overtime). Creating multiple tasks on an assignment will allow the resource to enter time against the appropriate bill-rate.

 
     
 

NOTE: This feature can also be used to track work-based planning against a project.

 
     
 

Follow the steps bellow to create additional tasks:

 
 
  • Under Main Menu, click on " Project Super User" (click on Home to get to the Main Menu).
  • Click on "Search Projects" in the Sub-Menu to find the particular project.
 
 
 
     
 
  • Once the project is found, click on the project name to view details
  • Click on the "Workplan" tab to view existing tasks
  • Click on the "Details" icon for any of the tabs listed to view details.
 
 
 
 
  • Once in the Task Detail, click on the "Create Tasks" option in the "Actions" drop down-menu. Go Create Tasks under Actions
  • Click on "Go".
 
 
 
 
  • On the following screen, enter the following details for the tasks that need to be created (multiple tasks can be created here):
    • Task number
    • Task name
    • Scheduled State date
    • Schedule Finish date (if known)
  • Click on "Apply" to create the new tasks.
 
 
 
 
  • Once the tasks have been created, bill-rates have to be assigned against them.
  • In order to assign bill-rates, click on "Projects" to bring up the forms interface.
  • Search for the project be entering the project number and then clicking on "Find".
 
 
 
 
  • Click on "Open" to view project details.
 
 
 
 
  • To bring up Tasks against the project, click on the cell next to "Tasks".
 
 
 
 
  • This will bring up all tasks that have been created for the assignment, including any new tasks.
  • Click on the task bill-rate needs to be entered for and then click on "Options".
 
 
 
 
  • Expand the "Bill-rate and Discount overrides" menu and click on the cell next to "Employee Bill-rate and Discount Overrides" .
 
 
 
 
  • Enter the following information to define bill-rate for the task:
    • Name of the resource
    • Employee number (will automatically populate)
    • Bill-Rate for the resource
    • UOM (Unit of Measurement - default is "Hours")
 
 
 
 
  • Click on the "Save" icon in the toolbar to save changes
  • When resource enters time against this new task, revenue will be accrued using the bill-rate defined against this task.
